Sixth Form Mathematics

Mathematics is a very popular option at AS and A Level with Mathematics and Further Mathematics on offer.

The AS level course consists of three modules: Core Mathematics 1, Core Mathematics 2 and Statistics 1.

To gain the A level grade, students must study a further three modules: Core Mathematics 3, Core Mathematics 4 and Mechanics 1.

All of the modules are examined through Edexcel.

Formulae Book

Students sitting AS and A2 examinations are given a formulae book which contains many of the formulae they need to be able to use but do not necessarily have to remember.  You may browse this booklet by clicking the heading above.

Independent Study

It is expected that all students will complete four hours of independent study  per week in year 12 and five hours in year 13.

 

The Further Mathematics Network


Harry Carlton is a regional centre for the teaching of Further Mathematics in partnership with Loughborough University. These courses are open to any learners, whether a student at the school or not. The course is delivered through a series of lectures on Wednesday evenings from 3:30 - 5:30pm. These lectures are supported through workshops and study days at either Loughborough or Warwick University.
